CAMP LINE-UP 2009
All Camps Are Open to All Ability Levels

ROOKIE CAMP
Fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting and baserunning will be taught and two games a day will be played. Coaches will be current or former Gopher players that will relate well to this age group. If you want your young player to learn the right way to play the game in a fun-filled environment, then this is the positive experience you are looking for. Camp runs from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. Each day will consist of a morning and afternoon session with lunch served from 11:45-12:45 in the dormitory cafeteria. Ages: 7-9. Dates: June 15-18, June 22-25, July 20-23, July 27-30. Day Camp Only. Cost: $260

SKILLS & GAMES CAMP
This camp will be divided into two different sessions. The morning session will be teaching and development time for learning the fundamental skills of hitting, throwing, fielding, bunting and baserunning. The afternoon session will be our games session where we will put into game situations the skills we learned in the morning. Half of this session will be playing games and the other half working on hitting in the cages and drill area. Ages: 10-12. Dates: June 15-18, June 22-25, July 20-23, July 27-30. Day Camp Only. Cost: $350

PITCH, CATCH AND HIT CAMP
This is an intensive learning experience for the camper that has a sincere desire to concentrate on developing their skills as a pitcher or catcher. Campers will be instructed on the fundamentals in all areas that relate to being a pitcher or catcher, with extensive teaching and training on the skill of hitting. The evening sessions will include videotape viewing and additional drill work in all areas. Examples of some areas to be covered: Pitchers: mechanics, grips, drills to improve delivery, pick-offs, pitch selection and developing a game plan, a daily throwing routine and the use of the bullpen between starts. Catchers: stance, framing, blocking, throwing, fielding, tags, pop-ups and developing a relationship with the pitching staff. Ages: 10-18. Dates: June 15-18 (Ages 10-13, Day Camp Only) and July 20-23 (Ages 14-18). Day Camp Cost: $350.

ADVANCED CAMP
For those who have attended one of our Fundamental Camps or are either 13 or 14 years old and has a sincere desire to advance their skill development at a young age. The intent of this experience is to spend more time on the fundamental skills of the game in more advanced instruction and drills. We will also incorporate more components of team offensive and defensive strategies into the games we play. If you are serious about the game of baseball, this camp is for you. Ages: 13-14. Dates: July 27-30. Day Camp Cost: $350.

HIGH SCHOOL SKILLS & GAMES CAMP
This camp will be divided into two different sessions. The morning session will be teaching the more progressive skill development of hitting, fielding, bunting, defense and baserunning. The afternoon session will be the games session, where students will apply the skills they learned in the morning in real game situations. Half of this session will be playing games and the other half to work on hitting in the cages and drill area. Ages: 14-18. Dates: June 22-25. Day Camp Only. Cost: $350

ELITE SKILLS ACADEMY
This camp is an exclusive week of baseball for a limited number (40) of 2010-2012 high school graduates. The Golden Gopher Baseball coaching staff will teach fundamentals, drills, strategies and the mental part of the game with a "hand-on" approach. The daily sessions for these elite participants include: individual position instruction emphasizing fundamentals (pitcher, catcher, infield and outfield); daily practice drills at your position, hitting instruction with drills, individualized video taping, simulated games for situation recognition and execution, baserunning, bunting, strength and conditioning workouts specifically designed for baseball players. Participants will have lockers assigned to them in the Gopher locker room and will receive a fitted Gopher cap, baseball pants and t-shirt. The cap and t-shirt are yours to keep, but all other gear will need to be returned at the end of camp. You will have access to the weight room, shower facilities and video room. We will do your laundry every day. It is important to indicate your desired position on the registration form to help us in our preparation. We will limit the number of players at each position to balance out the camp for playing purposes. A waiting list will be made to replace any cancelled participants. At the conclusion of camp, each player will receive a video tape with an evaluation of their hitting using voice-over technology. Ages: 2010-2012 high school graduates only. Dates: July 26-30.
